Wet and Wild on the Chattahoochee!

Nine brave Sisters traveled down the 'Hooch' on Saturday and had a blast! The weather was perfect and after some helpful instruction (thank goodness) from the river guide, we took off. The only real 'rapids' on this section of the river (thank goodness) is a class 2 or 3 right at the beginning of the float. Yikes! No surprise--I took a dunk! Everything was ok and I made it through.....then the river sent my kayak sideways and I wasn't paddling hard enough and 'boom' I'm in the river. No worries--I do like being wet---and a wonderful young man came forth to help me to the bank so I could easily get back on the thing. Meanwhile Heidi is behind me and flips over too! Oh well .......she likes to get wet too! LOL!
All is well that ends well! Great fun! Thanks to Tricia for all her helpful advice (she was the experienced one in the group!)
We won't mention one other tip over when running over a tree (Elaine!) Fab trip and we are going to do it again soon! These beautiful photos were taken by our Sister, Skert (Carol Yoyorski).
Thanks to all who attended. I love to share this wonderful spot of heaven with friends!

Look What I Made!

I'm Bridget Arrington, and I found this pattern in an old magazine and decided to try to make myself some bootie slippers out of felted sweaters! I love them and hope you will too! They have been fun to make and are just so soft and cozy I sometimes sleep in them if it is a cold night!                       I'm taking orders so if you are interested in owning a 'one of a kind' upcycled treasure.....you can contact me via email at barrington@greshaminc.com for pricing and sizing information.

Shall we Gather at the River?

Shall we gather at the River--the beautiful, the beautiful river!

Come on down to the Chattahoochee one more time! We just wanted to cram in one more opportunity to camp this spring before it gets too hot. May 18, 19, 20

I have reserved a beautiful group camp area RIGHT ON THE RIVER for a quick little weekend of camping. I just camped there this week and it was fantastic! I saw great blue heron, otter, hundreds of carp bedding, deer, and a bald eagle had a nest right across the river!! McIntosh Reserve Park http://www.carrollcountyga.com/pages/mcintosh_reserve_park/

McIntosh Reserve Park is located 35 miles southwest of Atlanta along the Chattahoochee River and can be reached via U.S. Alt. 27 from Carrollton or Newnan and GA Hwy. 5 from Douglasville. Direct access to the park is provided by a county-maintained road that connects with GA 5 two miles west of Whitesburg, Ga.

Some of us are taking our newly purchased kayaks (you go crazy when you hit 60 and I'm not even there yet! LOL!) and we're doing the nice little float from the bridge at the county line to the park (about 2 to 3 hours). If you want to do this but do not have a kayak--there is an outfitter located at the bridge--Tim Lawson 404-852-3372 georgiatrailoutfitters.com. Give him a call and reserve a kayak for Saturday morning.

We plan to hang out--work on crafts--cook--hike--visit--whatever suits you!

No event fee for this campout--just $10 per day per camper/trailer/tent for campsite. Payment must be made to me, in advance, please. This is a group camping situation (I collect the money and will pay the park with one check). We must have 12 in order to get the group camp rate. If we don't have 12 the rate will be $15 per day and I will collect the difference at the event. $20 reserves your spot (non-refundable) if you are camping 2 nights. Each additional day is $10.

This camp has no water or electric hookups (dry camping)--come on girls it’s ok! They do have showers in the park and you can fill up your water jugs there too.

The beauty of this place makes it worth it--trust me! One of the sweet spots of Georgia!

Nearby beautiful historic downtown Newnan has lots of cute shops and junkin! Our Sister, Susan Hyde has a great shop right on the square! Whitesburg has a couple of great junk shops--my favorite....Gloria's is located there. Whitesburg also has Banning Mills http://www.historicbanningmills.com/index.php/about-us with cabins and extreme zip lines!!!

Make payment ($10 per night) to Anita Jones Wallace 278 Hyde Circle, Newnan, GA 30263

Please email me to let me know you’re coming. ajoneswallace@charter.net
